Losing calories and some dietary myths

Many of the peoples wonder the same question, as to how many calories to lose for one pound weight loss?
As per the theories, one pound of body weight comprises of about 3500 calories. It means that you will have to consume some 3500 calories less than your usual intake, over a particular time phase, for getting rid of one pound. Always remember that this is a theory, the real time scenario can be very different than it seems in theory.
In many laboratory studies it is seen that as you eat less, your body will expend calories at much slower rate, because of decrease in body metabolism, possibly this is to withhold your survival, or simply to guard your comfortable body weight. Practically, this slowdown really happens and called as “diet induced adaptive mogenesis”. It simply states that if your calorie expenditure becomes less, it would be really difficult to lose weight by taking some extra calories. This could be a stage of frustration for a person eager for weight loss.
So, getting a working equation as per the laboratory statistics is not the complete thing to get rid of one pound aka 3500 calories in a flash. However you can cover that portion if you are willing to lose your weight considerably. You can easily work upon for cut in calories in gradual steps like cutting of 500 calories per day (estimated 3500 calories in a week) or as an alternate, taking a balanced diet that can result in loss of one pound in approximately a week.
This would be an irony to think according to the maths that says a person can easily shed his/ her weight considerably by just cutting through thousands of calories and become slim overnight, but it is simple calculative approach, nature does not work that way. You might have to work on this for a long time. Gradual loss in weight should be the uttermost target for any person to be fit and this will not affect other things in the body to function properly. If you think that skipping meals and going on fast can serve your purpose then you are completely wrong, rather it will create an adverse effect for your weight management. Always try to consume 4 to 5 small meals and drink plenty of water for better results. Then you will surely not consider the “how many calories” thing and will successfully be able to lose weight considerably.
